Florida Panthers did there usual routine last season. Dominating most of the regular season and then imploading in the playoffs. Florida Panthers will be missing star winger Alexander Mogilny but that's there biggest loss although the loss is huge as the team has no 1rst line rw now. You can be sure to see Panthers try to find the right player for there 1rst line and see the Panthers make there first ever big splash in UFA
Panthers have a solid core to build around but it's still missing pieces. When you got Joe Thornton and Mike Modano down the middle your set at center. Add Rick Nash, Ray Whitney, Chris Clark, Trent Hunter and Marek Svatos at the wings and you got a nice support from the wings. Panthers just announced signing of Rick Nash long term and are close to locking up Trent Hunter long term. Panthers are a bit weak down on the bottom two lines and could dip into the UFA market to fix that if they cannot acquire a player or two.

Panthers might not have many defenders currently but quality over quantity. Florida Panthers have a very solid top 5 atleast in there own opinion "I'm very happy with our defense core" Panthers GM. Panthers do have a nice balance of puck moving and defensive dmen. The only problem with there defense is there age. Depending on how Panthers season goes if it doesnt go well you could see many of those dmen moved for younger dmen.

Returning Goaltenders:
Roberto Luongo... Nuff said.. The leagues most winning REGULAR season goaltender of all time. Last post post season he also showed he can carry his team in the playoffs up untill Boston Bruins when the teams offense choke like Atlanta Thrashers. Backup Tim Thomas will most likely stay as he's a solid backup with a cheap contract.
Top Goalie Prospects: Tyler Plante
Some predict he could be joining the OTHL in year or two.
Free Agency: Under 10M$ to use. Losing no signinfant players
Needs: #1 right winger, depth down low, #6dman
