Florida Panthers were writen off by many teams as a playoff team this season but the team that lost the best player in the league Peter Forsberg and 11th all time scorer Doug Weight and only replaced them by Petr Cajanek have prevailed. The highest scoring team in the league last season is having serious offense problems yet they are 5-1-1 this season. The only reason they are 5-1-1 is there rock solid defense and goaltending. They have given up the least amount of shot per game in the league and might have the most balanced defense in the league along with one of the best goalies in the league Roberto Luongo.
Solutions?
What to cure there offense woes? Most would say make a trade but the answer is simpler Rick Nash (0 goals), Jarome Iginla (1 goal) have to start scoring for this team to make the playoffs. Dont be suprised if one of these players or even both are traded unless they start to score goals.
Petr Cajanek
So far the biggest surprise this season has to be Petr Cajanek. He has scored 6 goals in 7 games and had a 5 game goal scoring streak. Cajanek known for his passing skills not goal scoring was acquired in the Doug Weight deal and was brought in to pass the puck to Rick Nash but the tables have turned as Nash has 6 assists.
