The Stat Cat

Jan Lapiolahti

GM, Florida Panthers

Florida-

Florida Panthers have been on a roll since they last were at .500. now they are 16 games over .500. We decided to take a peek into the stats what has changed since then. Interestingly Panthers are 20-4-2 in there last 26 games. They have scored 109 goals in those games that average of 4.19 per game and given up 69 goals.

Factors behind the change? After Panthers brought back left winger Jere Lehtinen the team has turned around. It's weird as Lehtinen is no vocal leader but plays 110% everynight. But most of the success can be credited to Peter Forsberg and Roberto Luongo turning there games around.

Forsberg has been wild he has won 2 player of the week awards in the past 2 months and he's won the POTM award and in the last 28 games he has 13 goals, 33 assists for 46 points. Roberto Luongo was super last month as he posted a 12-1 record to take home the GOTM award.

On The Block Again?!
Despite leading the Panthers and the league in points there are rumours swirling around Florida that Peter Forsberg could be available expecially with the recent play of 2nd line center Doug Weight who's currently ona 8 game point streak and has 61 points on the season only 8 less than Forsberg.
