Tampa, FL. - There are rumors in Tampa that young center Jason Spezza is quietly being shopped to a few teams around the OTHL. An un-named source from inside the Lightning front office said " A few teams have been contacted and Spezza's name has come up". The possible teams or players involved in the talks could not be confirmed.
A move like this would send shock waves across the OTHL as it looks like Spezza has finally come into his own and is on his way to becoming the franchise player that he has been touted to be since he was 16 years old. So far this season Jason has 15 goals and 30 assists in 46 games and leads the team with a +23.
When asked about these rumors the GM said "I will not discuss rumors in the media, as of right now Jason Spezza is a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning and will be in the lineup in tommorows game against LA.
Spezza himself brushed off these rumors, "In this line of work you learn to deal with rumors, it's something I don't think about any more," Spezza said. "People are going to write a million good things and a million bad things and if you read them all, you're playing head games with yourself. I leave it all as a wash and if you want to write bad and you want to write good, it's your call," said a smiling and humbled Spezza
As to what Tampa is looking at in return for this "Franchise Player" is left up for fans and media to speculate about. Time will only tell.
