Devils picking up right where they left off

Dylan McLaughlin

GM, New Jersey Devils

It's like there never was an off season for the Devils. They have started out playing just like they were last May when they out lasted the heavyweights of the league to win the Cup.

In the Eastern finals last season, the Devils hit the zone and never looked back. It looks like they might still be in the zone. Thursday's performance against the St.Louis Blues makes a pretty strong argument. New Jersey dominated the Blues with 47 shots and scored 5 times. The Blues managed 19 shots on Brodeur but were not able to beat him. Based on the hunger from the Devils tonight, you might have believed that it was game 6 against the Phoenix Coyotes all over again.

New Jersey joins the Ottawa Senators as the only two teams with a perfect 4-0-0 record. Ottawa takes on Edmonton and Toronto in their next two games while Jersey plays Los Angeles and Phoenix in a rematch of last spring's dance.
