Dallas, Texas - The Dallas Stars are extremely pleased to announce their first UFA signing of the year, bringing gritty winger Dallas Drake onboard. Dallas signed a 3-year deal, providing security for both sides.
"We wanted Dallas on this team a great deal," said GM Benjamin Yoskovitz. "He's got size, speed, grit and a scoring touch that'll help pop in a few goals when we really need them."
Dallas Drake is the second veteran leader brought onto the team after the recent trade for Jeremy Roenick prior to the 2005 Entry Draft.
"Young guys are important, don't get me wrong," said Yoskovitz. "And you can fully expect to see some of our younger guys like Semin, Hunter and Malhotra making major contributions. But you win with leaders, the experienced guys that have been there, done that. Drake fits the bill."
