New Jersey - Jocelyn Thibault has proven to be an excellent addition to the Canucks thus far since coming over a week before the trade deadline. Thibault has started 8 games since the trade, posting 6 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. He has stopped 211 of 218 shots in these games, for an outstanding save percentage of .968. Thibault's last two games have been shutouts including one over the high powered Coyote's offense. Since the acquisition of Thibault, the Canucks have moved up 3 places in the Western Conference standings.
In Chicago Thibault was playing great as well but it was a younger Hawks defense core which occasionally left Thibault hanging but it is obvious with the Canucks more veteran core that he is able to flourish.
"Here it is easier for me, the guys just keep the front of the net clear and let me handle the shots. I think we could quite possibly have the best group of defensemen in the OTHL, they certainly help me out a lot" said Thibault after the mornings skate in New Jersey.
Tonight the Canucks take on the best team in the league, the Devils in New Jersey. It could turn into a goaltending dual as Brodeur is one of the top 3 in the league and right now Thibault is arguably the hottest goalie around. Should be a battle to the finish.
