Immediately Following the Colorado Avalanche's 4-1 loss at the hands of the Calgary Flames. GM Michael Blair got up before the media with a shocking announcement!
Tonight, the Colorado Avalanche can now officially announce that Injured All Star LWer Alex Tanguay, LWer Dean McAmmond and All Star Defensman Rob Blake have been dealt in 2 seperate deals. Joining us here in Colorado are Center Rod Brind'Amour LWer Erik Cole RWer Steve Ott Defensemen Glen Wesley and Sergei Zubov.
The Deals break down like this...
To Colorado: Rod Brind'Amour, Erik Cole and Glen Wesley
To Carolina: Alex Tanguay and Dean McAmmond
Analysis: While the Avalanche are the clear cut winners in the short term with this deal Carolina wins the long haul unless Cole can mature and become the star Avalanche Management thinks he is capable of. Wesley gives us an experienced presence on the blueline and upgrades us some there. While Brind'Amour will provide the team with the 2nd line spark we are missing.
To Colorado: Sergei Zubov and Steve Ott
To Detroit: Rob Blake
Analysis: If Blake resigns with Detroit then Detroit wins the deal if he doesn't obviously Colorado wins it in the long run.. In the Short-term I give Detroit the edge. It will be difficult to replace Blake's Leadership on the blue line hopefully this will help change the outlook and chemistry of the team...
