In dire need of a true #1 LW, Felix Morrison got on the phone and made a few calls. After a few days of looking he found his player, russian sensation Sergei Samsonov. Samsonov was acquired from the Blues for Jason Arnott and youngster Miettinen.
Felix Morrison commented on the trade: We felt that Sammy was the right player at the right price. We will miss Jason Arnott but we feel we have strong centres, especially if another player which we cannot name at this moment joins the club in the next few days. Sergei will be a nice addition to the club."
As for Samsonov, he had this to say:
I am sad to leave the Blues, they treated me well and I liked the city alot. However, joining the Dallas Stars is a dream come true. They seem to be going for the Cup and that's what I want.I hear the city is great and the fans love their hockey. I can't wait to play with my new teamates.
