Afinogenov Traded to Ottawa!

Jason Fisher

GM, Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres shipped out Maxim Afinogenov to the Ottawa Senators, the 2nd trade made between the two teams in the last two days. Buffalo also sent three picks in the later half of the 2004 draft to Ottawa in exchange for Ottawa's first round selection (#23) and center prospect Igor Mirnov. The move was anticipated for a few days, as the Sabres had roster clogs on the right side of the ice. This deal brings in youth which should help the Sabres out down the road. Afinogenov should flurish for Ottawa whom is more offensively talented and have better natural playmaking centers than do the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres hope to change that through the aquisition of Mirnov.

There are rumors floating aruond that the Sabres have had many offers for Miro Satan, but nothing seems imminent. Stay tuned!
